What is Vamana?

Vamana, also known as Kunjal Kriya, is an ancient yogic purification technique designed to cleanse the stomach and digestive tract. This practice is part of the Shatkarmas, the six purification methods of Hatha Yoga, aimed at maintaining physical and mental health. Vamana involves drinking a large quantity of saline water and then voluntarily inducing vomiting to expel toxins, undigested food, and excess mucus from the stomach.

The Essence of Vamana

Vamana is performed early in the morning on an empty stomach. The process begins by drinking several glasses of warm saline water. Once the stomach is full, specific techniques are used to induce vomiting, allowing the water to cleanse the stomach lining and remove impurities. This practice is believed to balance the body’s internal environment, promoting overall health and well-being.
